Milan, 03/04/2023 - After the four approaching stages of 'Road to Trento', which brought the event's themes to an international audience for the first time ever, with stops in Lugano, San Francisco, Abu Dhabi and Johannesburg (with initiatives streamed to over 32,500 online users), the squirrel returns home to unveil the leaders and novelties of the XVIII edition of the Festival dell’Economia di Trento, scheduled from May 25 to 28, 2023 in the innovative and successful formula that sees for the second year the 24 ORE Group together with Trentino Marketing as organizers on behalf of the Autonomous Province of Trento and with the contribution of the Municipality of Trento and the University of Trento.

A must-see four-day event graced by the presence of 6 Nobel Laureates, 19 Ministers, over 90 speakers from academia, 40 distinguished international and national economists, 60 representatives from the most prominent European and national institutions,35 international speakers, over 40 managers and entrepreneurs from some of the leading Italian and multinational companies.

The theme chosen for the 2023 Festival by the Scientific Committee chaired by Il Sole 24 Ore Editor-in-Chief Fabio Tamburini - "THE FUTURE OF THE FUTURE. The Challenges of a New World" - dialogues seamlessly with the 2022 edition, titled “After The Pandemic and War, AMIDST ORDER AND DISRUPTION”, which delved into the crisis of globalization and the need to revise global development models.

As the Festival celebrates its 18th year, the four-day event will shift its focus towards reflecting on the future to analyze the guidelines of change and the challenges of the new world, including wars and changes in geopolitics, the risk of pandemics, and the energy and climate emergency. The brightest minds in science, opinion leaders, and specialists from various fields, together with personalities from politics, business, and civil society, will gather in Trento on May 25-28 to find solutions and chart new directions.

After the resounding success of the 2022 edition, which boasted an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers and engaged in-person and online audiences, the Festival will be held with the same successful formula crafted by the 24 ORE Group and Sistema Trentino; the event will spread throughout the city of Trento, intertwining the needs and opportunities of businesses, institutions, youth, and families; this year's schedule will not only feature the traditional events of the Festival, but also an extensive agenda of initiatives designed for a diverse and wide-ranging audience.

The FuoriFestival, which was introduced as a great novelty in the previous edition and was highly approved by the younger and more creative audience, will return in 2023 with a rich series of special cultural, educational, cross-cultural, and entertainment events, with the participation of talents, creators, and influencers who are followed by young people. Also confirmed as part of the FuoriFestival is Economie dei Territori, the series of events that provides an opportunity for local businesses and institutions to be heard and for a deep-dive into the realities of their respective territories. “Incontri con l’autoreare back too, with an even more extensive program of book presentations at various venues throughout the city, and the live events of Radio 24 in Piazza Cesare Battisti that will add excitement to the days.

At a Festival that leads the way in exploring the future, it is only fitting that young people take center stage; they are the ones who are most eager to establish a strong foundation on which to build their future. For this reason, the 2023 edition presents a busy program of 15 events specifically dedicated to them both within the Festival and within the FuoriFestival to peak with the “Festival dei giovani”, three events aimed particularly at high school students in Trentino. Two events during the Festival will, instead, showcase contributions from university students on the Festival themes.

The program, along with other endeavours, forms the basis of an overall schedule with over 260 events spanning four days, with the initiatives of the Festival (37% female presence), Economie dei Territori, Incontri con l’Autore and the FuoriFestival that will breathe life into an eventcapable of bringing together academia and the real economy, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and embracing space for all those interested in understanding the important changes taking place and the challenges for the future, and for all those who want to enjoy the great many artistic and cultural attractions offered by the city of Trento. The Festival's bookstore, curated by the Trentino Booksellers’ Association, will make its comeback in Piazza Duomo.
